Rename Images for SEO

Naming images correctly also makes it much easier to find specific images when searching within the WordPress library. For good SEO images should be named in the following way:

  • Rename all images names using the guide below
  • Do not use images with random (camera-generated) naming
  • Do not use commas, capitals or apostrophes
  • Replace spaces with hyphens
IMG_353.jpg NO
image name.jpg NO
IMAGE-NAME.jpg NO
image’s-name.jpg NO
image-name.jpg YES

For a collection of images, use numbering.

image-name-01.jpg, image-name-02.jpg, image-name-03.jpg
